Alessi Rose, the 22 year old rising pop sensation, closed out her remarkable “For Your Validation” tour with two consecutive nights at the Moroccan Lounge. These being her first ever Los Angeles headline shows, she performed to a sold out crowd of 250 starstruck fangirls – myself included. Hailing all the way from her small town of Derby in the United Kingdom, it was evident that she was born to be a performer. Through flashing lights, electric vocals, and jaw-dropping set and costume design, she is surely one to watch. I was lucky enough to experience all of it two times over.

As night one commenced, Rose opened with a special artist tradition: an intimate soundcheck session with 10 fans and their plus ones. Reminiscent of big stars’ show practices, including Gracie Abrams and Tate McRae, it has become a popular and coveted experience for hardcore fans to hear a stripped back cover or secret song from their favorite artist just a few hours before they take the stage to perform the full show to a general audience. I was absolutely thrilled when I was selected from a random lottery system to attend the soundcheck session for her very first Los Angeles show, and Rose surely did not disappoint. Unlike other soundcheck packages that many artists sell for a steep add-on price, Rose was gracious enough to open up her soundcheck as a free “enter-to-win” opportunity to anyone with tickets. After performing a beautiful acoustic cover of “Picture You” by Chappell Roan, she took the time to give each fan a hug, receive a few letters and gifts, and say some kind words before quickly scurrying off to get ready.

Unlike any other date of the tour, a special surprise was prepared ahead of Alessi taking the stage. Though she had just made noise with her most recent release, a six–track EP, For Your Validation, on January 17th, Alessi Rose had not only told, but shown her fans time and time again that she was just getting started. Silent disco-style headphones were distributed to everyone in the audience, and following a playback of Addison Rae’s “Headphones On,” the full version of her upcoming single, “Same Mouth,” began playing. She later announced the single would be coming out on May 16th, and what better way to celebrate than a teaser to two buzzing sold-out audiences.

Alas, it was finally time for the pop star to claim her title and take ownership of the stage. She opened with an iconic line of speech reading, “Father, please forgive me for I have sinned,” heading straight into a high-energy, drum-heavy track titled, “IKYK.” It was impossible to take your eyes off of her - as one song transitioned into the next, I was deeply in awe of the pop perfection that stood in front of me. From her lacey, somewhat raunchy outfit that she wore with full confidence, to the massive light up cross hanging behind her, to the incredible vocals and instruments that rang out as a disco ball spun high above, I couldn’t help but be completely immersed into Alessi Rose’s pretty world.

She sang songs both new and old, showcasing her versatility and range. Fan favorites like “eat me alive” and “CRUSH!” had the entire crowd screaming and dancing, while more raw and heartfelt songs like “don’t ask questions” and “lucy” were guaranteed not to leave a dry eye in sight. She even treated the audience to a performance of beloved unreleased song, “stella,” a touching ballad about the difficulties of a friendship breakup. And fear not, Alessi Rose, everyone has been learning their Gwen Stefani thanks to you and your unforgettable cover of “What You Waiting For?”

Just one magical hour after she first took the stage, the singer became overwhelmed with emotion as night two came to a close, ending her set with “pretty world,” a song she has dedicated to her fans. It encompasses the almost indescribable feeling of fleeting happiness as a concert comes to an end: how we all wished we could stay in her pretty world forever. The energy in the room was palpable, and marked the finale of two special shows that I will remember forever, especially when she sells out stadiums someday soon.

Delivering nothing less than pop princess heaven, her unique lyricism, heavenly production, and out-of-this-world stage presence have established her as a force to be reckoned with. She is currently gearing up for a stadium tour opening for Dua Lipa’s European run of the Radical Optimism tour, and will be joining Miss Possessive herself, Tate McRae, on an impressive US arena run later this year. I am extremely grateful to have seen Alessi Rose in such a small, intimate setting for two exceptional nights at the Moroccan, and can only wait and watch as the world gets ready for this generation’s next biggest star.
